Honeycrisp Apple Recipe: Slow-Cooked Apple Butter

The Honeycrisp apple. It’s a favorite among the many types of apples because of its unbeatable flavor and crisp texture. Honeycrisp apples are great for your favorite recipes because the flavor works well with complimentary spices and the texture is ideal for cooking. Use your Honeycrisp apples to make this tasty apple butter, perfect on toast, on your morning oatmeal or pancakes, or for baking.

Slow-Cooked Apple Butter

6 large Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, finely chopped
1/2 cup white sugar
1 /2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Place apples in a slow cooker. Top with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Mix well. Cover and cook on low 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown. Uncover and puree in a blender or food processor. Cook on high, uncovered, for 1-2 hours.
