Tips for Healthy Lunches

School is getting started now, and with it comes school lunches. Packing a healthy lunch for your kids (or for yourself!) is simple with FruitShare! Use these simple tips to ensure fruit stays fresh and tasty until lunchtime.

  • Apples and pears: pre-slice apples and pears, and sprinkle them with a bit of lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown.
  • Grapes: wash ahead of time and pat dry with a paper towel before storing in a hard-sided container.
  • Peaches: pre-slice peaches or send them whole, but either way be sure to pack this soft fruit in a hard-sided container to prevent bruising.

You can also sneak more healthy fruit into other areas of school lunches by spreading some mashed avocado on a turkey sandwich instead of mayonnaise, or adding thinly sliced apples for a sweet crunch. Chopped fruit also goes great on yogurt for a filling addition to any lunch or as a snack. With these healthy tips, your kids will be full of nutritious food to help them focus throughout the day!
